For years, I struggled with a Polar heart rate monitor. i might have to be compelled to wet the strap, typically wait up to twenty minutes for it to “warm up” and detect a symbol, and endure constant signal “drop outs” making massive gaps in my training information. Eventually, i would had enough, and set to do this particular Suunto t3d Heart Rate Monitor because it had been on sale at REI. i have been using it for 3 months now and i am extraordinarily satisfied.
First, the watch looks very nice. it is very slim and does not scream “training computer,” thus it’s positively appropriate to wear at the office, while traveling, or pretty much anywhere without looking of place.
When you put the center rate strap on, the signal is picked up immediately. i haven’t had to dampen the electrodes or sit up for it to warm up; you merely put the strap on, turn the watch to training mode and you are smart to go. The signal is extraordinarily solid; you’ll do pretty much any physical activity during this thing no matter what proportion it contorts your torso and therefore the watch will still obtain your heart rate no drawback.
The interface is admittedly alittle confusing, however with some practice you will get used to it. Recalling information is simple, there is multiple time zone support, stopwatch… pretty much every basic function you’d expect. The calories burned function is, as far as I can tell, terribly accurate once you subtract the calories you’d have burned sitting still.
As far as cons go, there are very few. The battery life is nice, although not pretty much as good as on my Polar (I had to exchange the t3ds battery once concerning 3 months of serious, near-daily use). Others have complained that the screen is tough to browse, although personally I even have no issues.
Over-all, if you’re looking to pay but two hundred usd and get an especially reliable heart rate monitor, this is often your watch.
